HALIFAX, March 10, 2016 /CNW/ - Janique Leblanc, anchor « Le Téléjournal Acadie », Radio-Canada's Atlantic Television News hour and Michael de Adder, freelance cartoonist, will be the Masters of Ceremonies for the Atlantic Journalism Awards. This year's event will be held on Saturday, May 7 at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel.
Janique LeBlanc is an experienced journalist who has worked as a radio and television reporter, host and anchor in Canada and Europe. She began her career at Radio-Canada in 1986. After 15 years, Janique went to work in Switzerland in private and public radio news broadcasting, eventually joining the International news desk of Swiss public radio. In 2010, Janique returned to New Brunswick. She is now the anchor of Le Téléjournal Acadie, Radio-Canada's Atlantic television newscast. She also host L'heure juste, a daily hour of news and current affairs on radio.
Michael de Adder was born in Moncton, New Brunswick. He studied art at Mount Allison University where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drawing and painting.
After freelancing for a few years, he landed his first full time cartooning job at the Halifax Daily News. After the Daily News folded in 2008, de Adder became the full time cartoonist at New Brunswick Publishing. He now freelances for The Chronicle Herald in Halifax, the Toronto Star and Ottawa Hill Times. His work is syndicated throughout North America by artizans.com. de Adder reaches millions of readers per week, making him one of the most read cartoonists in Canada.
Finalists for the Atlantic Journalism Awards will be announced in early April. The gold and silver awards will be presented at a gala dinner and awards show on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel.
