HALIFAX, March 10, 2015 /CNW/ - Patrick Brethour, Editor-in-Chief for Brunswick News and Preston Mulligan, journalist and host in Halifax for CBC will be the Masters of Ceremonies for the Atlantic Journalism Awards. This year's event will be held at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel on May 9, 2015.
Brethour has been a reporter and editor for two decades, covering business, economics and politics across Canada. Before arriving at Brunswick News in May of 2014, Brethour spent 18 years with The Globe and Mail, including senior editorial roles in the business and national news departments. At Brunswick News, he leads an award-winning team of journalists that covers every corner of the province, and serves up breaking news to readers through locally-focused digital news sites and print publications.
Mulligan has been a reporter in the Maritimes since the mid-90s. A Prince Edward Islander, he began his career with the Summerside daily, The Journal Pioneer. He moved to CBC Radio in Charlottetown in the Spring of 1996. Since moving to CBC Halifax in 1999 he's been a reporter, a producer, news reader/editor and host.
Finalists for the Atlantic Journalism Awards will be announced in early April. The gold and silver awards will be presented at a gala dinner and awards show on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel.
