HALIFAX, April 15 /CNW/ - The Atlantic Journalism Awards (AJAs), in
conjunction with CNW Group, has announced a series of professional
development workshops for journalists and others to be held during the
day on Saturday, May 7, 2011 as part of the AJAs annual celebration of
journalistic excellence. The workshops will be held at the Halifax
Marriott Harbourfront Hotel. Further information on the workshops and

Participants are able to choose from two different workshops at 9 a.m.
and two others beginning at 11:00 a.m. Fees are $30.00 per workshop or
$10.00 for students.
Digital Newsroom Strategy and the 7 Deadly Sins will be presented by Ed
Cassavoy from the Toronto Star at 9:00 a.m. There will also be a
workshop presented by Phillip Lee, professor of journalism at St.
Thomas University, on evolving your work in the new world of
journalism.
At 11:00 a.m. Pauline Dakin from CBC National News will be presenting on
Health or Hype, and the concurrent session is how to successfully pitch
a story to a magazine publisher.
The workshops are being presented in cooperation with the Atlantic
Magazines Association and the Canada Periodical Fund (CPF) of the
