Linden MacIntyre Guest Speaker at AJAs

HALIFAX, March 13 /CNW/ - The Atlantic Journalism Awards (AJAs) is
pleased to announce that Linden MacIntyre of CBC's the fifth estate will be
the guest speaker at this year's Atlantic Journalism Awards. MacIntyre joined
the fifth estate as co-host for the 1990-91 season. For the past 28 years,
MacIntyre has been involved in producing documentaries and stories from all
over the world including the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe, the Soviet
Union and Central America.
This past year, the fifth estate was honoured with both the Michener
Award and the Justicia Award for Excellence in Journalism. MacIntyre's
groundbreaking journalism was key to both awards, including his story "The
Scandal of the Century."
MacIntyre lists extensive publication and broadcast experience with The
Financial Times of Canada, the Halifax Chronicle Herald, The Journal, CBC's
'Here Today' and his own show, 'The MacIntyre File'. While working on 'The
MacIntyre File', he launched a successful legal challenge over access to
affidavits and documents relating to search warrants. The CBC won the case
before the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Today, MacIntyre's landmark legal battle remains an important legal precedent
in support of public and media access to information in Canada.

The 27th Atlantic Journalism Awards will be presented at the Halifax
Marriott Harbourfront Hotel, on Saturday, May 3, 2008, during the AJAs gala
dinner and awards event. Finalists for the awards will be announced in early
April.

Tickets for the show and gala dinner are available online at www.AJAs.ca,
