AJAs Deadline Announced

    HALIFAX, Nov. 30 /CNW/ - The Atlantic Journalism Awards has announced
that the postmarked deadline for entering stories and images from the 2007
news year is Thursday, January 31, 2008. New this year, the AJAs will be
accepting print entries either on CDs in a PDF format or the traditional hard
copy entries. Details of category definitions, entry forms and procedures can
be found at www.AJAs.ca or telephone 902-425-2727. A poster announcing the
"Call For Entries" can be downloaded from the AJAs.ca website.
    Entries must be by journalists in Atlantic Canada, and must have been
published in the region's daily or weekly newspapers and magazines or
broadcast on the region's radio or television stations during 2007. Three
finalists will be selected in each category by panels of judges from coast to
coast and they will be announced in early April 2008. All of the finalists
will be honoured at a gala dinner and awards ceremony on Saturday, May 3, 2008
at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel.  Daytime professional development
workshops will also be held on May 3.
