CNW official newswire of the Atlantic Journalism Awards

TORONTO, June 9 /CNW/ - CNW Group, Canada's largest news and information
distribution service for professional communicators, today announced it is the
"official newswire" of the Atlantic Journalism Awards.
The Atlantic Journalism Awards is a non-for-profit organization that
recognizes excellence in journalism in Atlantic Canada. The awards are
presented at a spring gala ceremony, and the most recent one took place on
May 3 2008.
"We'd like to thank CNW for their support of the Atlantic Journalism
Awards. With them as the official newswire, we can be assured that
announcements regarding our winners will make their way into the Canadian
media from out East all the way to the West," said Bill Skerrett, Executive
Director, Atlantic Journalism Awards.
"CNW is the leading source of full-text news in Canada since 1960. More
than 80 per cent of Canada's media companies use CNW to disseminate their own
corporate information, a fact that speaks not only to our credibility and
reliability in the news distribution business, but also to the long-standing
relationships CNW has built up over the years with Canada's journalism and
media organizations," said David Milliken, Senior Vice President, Media
Relations.

    About the Atlantic Journalism Awards

The Atlantic Journalism Awards was started in 1981 to honour journalistic
excellence and achievement in print and electronic news in Nova Scotia, New
Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland/Labrador. Close to 900
individual journalists have been honoured since the inception of the Atlantic
Journalism Awards. Today a volunteer Board of Directors representing a wide
range of news outlets directs the Atlantic Journalism Awards. The program is
funded by a number of partners and contributors. Judging is conducted by
independent panels of judges and the awards are presented at a gala awards
ceremony in the spring.
