Mike Duffy Guest Speaker at AJAs

    HALIFAX, March 8 /CNW/ - The Atlantic Journalism Awards (AJAs) is pleased
to announce that Mike Duffy will be the guest speaker at this year's Atlantic
Journalism Awards. Duffy is a distinguished Canadian journalist, who got his
start covering politics in Halifax in the 1960s. He is best known for his 25
years on Parliament Hill where he is widely considered as an "Ottawa Insider."
"Duff" will mix the latest political news, with rollicking humour recalling
his early days working with some of the legends of the Maritime media!
    Born in P.E.I in 1946, he has appeared on all CTV News' broadcasts, from
CTV National News with Lloyd Robertson, to Canada AM, W-FIVE and CTV's weekly
political broadcast, Question Period. Now the host of Mike Duffy Live, he
brings all the days' top political news to you, from the halls of Parliament.
    An ACTRA award-winner for live TV reporting; he was twice nominated for
the "Best in the Business" award by the Washington Journalism Review; and in
1994 was named to the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame. He
has received honorary degrees from his alma mater, the University of P.E.I.;
and from Niagara University in Niagara Falls New York; in addition to numerous
other awards and citations.
    The awards will be presented at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel,
on Saturday, May 12, 2007 during the AJAs gala dinner and awards event.
Finalists for the awards will be announced in early April.
